The beauty of starting a new year is a chance to start fresh with a clean slate. As we move into 2023, I love to reflect on the previous year….
One which has been incredibly challenging but came with great rewards and growth.
2022 started with being newly terminated from my job, facing the strictest and most heart wrenching restrictions yet, but came with extreme positives, of which provided opportunity, growth and healing for myself as an individual, my family as individuals and building stronger relationships with each other.
I started a new full time job at the local recreation centre. I was very fortunate this place decided to accept negative covid tests in place of being vaccinated or else. There was a group of us that found one another and provided each other support during the discrimination and loneliness.
We purchased a family ski pass to the local ski hill for the first time. It was one of the non-vax friendly ski hills and even though the federal rule was you had to be vaccinated or show proof of a negative test to go in the lodge, they provided outdoor bathrooms and made it feel normal. So we skied a ton!!
My daughter and I attended peace rally’s and marches to fight for our freedoms and medical choices. This was not long before the big truck convoy. People were getting sick of the same restrictions with poor results.
The kids and I tested positive for CoVid, giving us a forced 10 day vacation from school and work. We had no symptoms but we thoroughly enjoyed our time off together!
During our shit ton of skiing, we also included a mini vacation for my birthday at the Lake Louise Inn with Colby while he was in town! Jessica and the kids came too, and Laura and Matt with the kids met up with us as well. It was as good as it gets!
Valentine’s Day
March 12 we went Paintballing for Logan Henry’s birthday. What a blast we had, and a perfect day for it!
Layne turned 12 on March 20th and Michael built him a gaming room for his birthday with shiny walls, led lights and his own gaming chair and desk for keyboard and mouse.
Logan homeschooled from November 2021 to the end of grade 8 on June 28th 2022. We had a great time learning, going on field trips and hanging out together.
We went to a golf simulator for Michael’s birthday.
I got my dream tattoo in April 26th. It took 5 hours straight but it was worth it just for the colours alone!
I helped clean, organize, pack and move my bestie to her new home!! She got the keys on May 9th after we shopped and refurnished the whole house! It was so much fun and I was so excited for her and the kiddos for this new chapter!
Logan joined figure skating to try something new. It was such a pleasure to watch her learn something outside her comfort zone and progress with her skating and balance.
Layne started parkour and found a new love. Jumping, tumbling, back flips but most importantly, a team of like minded individuals that like, encourage and respect him. He was in rec for a few months and quickly progressed to competitive!
I finally got to ride the 1A while it was closed to vehicles on a beautiful summer day with Marnie and my friend Charlotte!
We bought a car lift and decked out the garage a little more. Michael was pretty excited about this addition and was now ready for a project!
We raised and released 5 painted lady butterflies from caterpillars, to cocoons to butterflies. It was the coolest!
We bought me a convertible! It was always a dream of mine, and I literally drove all summer long with the exception of 3 days with the top down and the wind blowing my hair!
We attended our first Wedding as a family. Brit and Jay! It was beautiful but blustery day but we made the most of it!
Logan graduated in a homeschool graduation ceremony we hosted for her. Marnie and Syd and Nana attended. It was such a heartwarming and proud moment!
I purchased a stand up paddle board and we spent summers days on the water!

Burning ceremony – we took some time to reflect and release some of our negative memories and forgive. It was time for a new beginning and growth!
Logan turned 14!
She got her learners that same day!
We went white water rafting for her birthday celebration!
And then she went on a camping trip with our friends all in her own!
Logan and I started volunteering at the Cat shelter every Sat. It’s hard work but it feels so good to make a difference.
We got a puppy. A beautiful bug named Sadie. Chloe immediately loved her as did we all, and she sleeps with Layne every night!
My dad and Joan came for a visit, our first family visitors since we moved!! It was exciting to show them our new home!
I got a new job, with a great team! When the Queen died, we honoured her memory with high tea and dressing up.
Michael completed a HUGE project at work, and was recognized at the highest level for his incredible commitment to the timeline and job
Layne had his first surgery. He had a cyst under his gums and had to remove the cyst and the tooth. He was a rockstar!
Michael got back to Ontario for his annual fall boating trip with his brother.
As always, they had some great conversation, and even better laughs.
We celebrated Thanksgiving with friends and family on this beautiful summer day in the fall. We are so thankful!
Halloween was a blast. Layne went trick or treating with friends then we headed out to an incredible outdoor haunted house.
We could finally fly again!!
Layne and Dad went to Ontario to hang with Uncle Colby and his cousins. They had gorgeous weather and a great visit.
Logan and I went to Mexico and I finally saw my sister and her family for the first time in over 3 years! It was so amazing! San Miguel de Allende is a spectacular place to visit.
My mom moved here in November and is loving every minute and living her best life, making me so grateful and proud!
We had to opportunity to meet up with some old friends 12 years later!
I got another tattoo while I was in Mexico.
Christmas Parties made a come back and we maximized it by attending a few of them! We had so much fun!

New Year’s Eve
Calm, relaxed and fun. We kept it low key and had a light supper and played some pond hockey!
Bring on 2023 where adventure awaits! To health,joy, peace and love!
